Location: Schaumburg, IL

Position Description: ISCO is a wireless systems solutions company and manufacturer providing solutions and subsystems to wireless service providers such as AT&T, Verizon for over 20 years. Reporting to the VP of Engineering, this individual will be a key contributor to the success and growth of ISCO. The position will be the in-house expert for mechanical engineering. The mechanical engineering responsibilities will be to design and develop indoor and outdoor mechanical enclosures for ISCO product lines in support of the telecommunications industry. Other responsibilities include project management and component sourcing.

Required Education/Experience: BS in Engineering, MSEE is a plus, and a minimum of ten years related experience.

Position Requirements:

  1. Mechanical design using Creo.
  2. Sheetmetal design.
  3. Rack mounted equipment design.
  4. Outdoor product design including thermal and weatherization.
  5. Must be able to design and create detailed drawings.

  1. Must be able to manage projects from concept to production.
  2. Familiarity with ERP systems and bills of materials.
  3. Familiarity with the Engineering Change Process (ECN).
  4. Knowledge of electrical principles and electromechanical design is a plus.
  5. Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality requirements.
  6. Work closely with purchasing manager in sourcing quality parts and modules.
  7. Provide leadership to ensure that all assigned projects are completed on time.

Necessary Skills:

  • Expertise using Creo.

  • Design of rack and outdoor tower mounted equipment for the telecommunications industry. Includes the mechanical chassis design and the mounting of all electrical components.  Designs include thermal and outdoor weatherization.

  • Familiarity with outdoor tower and rack mount design standards.

  • Telecom experience required.

  • Very good management skills. Ability to manage any mechanical design projects including setting schedules and resources and managing quality issues.

  • Ability to manage design issues related to any product functionality such as mechanical, electrical and RF. Must have basic electrical and RF understanding to work with engineering to resolve issues.

  • Ability to manage all project phases (design, prototype evaluation, production transfer, documentation, process engineering, etc.)

  • Ability to work independently within a small engineering group environment.

  • Team player who can functionally fit into many roles as is needed.

  • Good communication skills.  Able to clearly and concisely communicate with team members and management on issues concerning designs and goals.

  • Proven self-starter, with the demonstrated ability to work with little direction and oversight.

  • Strong technical, problem solving and analytical abilities.

  • Basic proficiency with MS Office applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Recommended Skills:

  • Familiarity with ECi Max ERP system or similar system.
  • Familiarity with cellular RF and electrical basics.
