ISCO’s PIM Calculator helps Mobile Network Operators plan for frequency mixes that harm the uplink

October 11

A PIM problem is often not found until after a cell site is up and running, when a performance issue is flagged by severely degraded throughput or other KPIs. By then it can be difficult to identify and solve. ISCO’s PIM Calculator is an easy-to-use online tool that shows the Passive Intermodulation products IM3, IM5, IM7, and even triple beat which are produced when multiple transmit signals interact and create interference in the uplink signal. Just enter two transmit frequencies to start; enter the optional receive band frequency to see whether to expect PIM in the uplink. The results are easy to see quickly in a graph and table.
